Look into a window.
Listen to a life.
Presented as part of the DUMBO Projection Project, The Noctarium brings silhouetted scenes to public space—small moments that feel both ordinary and cinematic.
On opening night at DUMBO Archway Plaza, the installation illuminated the Manhattan Bridge. Visitors could call the number on the projection to hear the stories behind the windows.
A public image.
A private listening experience.
I rebuilt the Twilio phone system that let visitors call the number displayed in the projection and hear the stories behind the windows.
The phone interaction extends the work beyond its projected images, inviting a passerby to become a listener and encounter an intimate narrative within public space.

Building a world from silhouettes.
We used the Audio Lab and its four projectors to cast a seamless green wash across the room’s screens. This full-room green screen produced crisp, isolated silhouettes for compositing in After Effects and layering into the window scenes.
